Justin Peake is a multi-instrumentalist improviser, sound composer, producer, performer, and experimental technologist creating work across a variety of genre and media.
He is a researcher and educator exploring the synthesis and communication of information and ideas, seeking to apply his efforts toward radical pedagogy in the form of public workshops, private consultation, living performance, and developing experimental technologies and experiences which foster greater understanding through contemplation, embodied action, and experiential learning. Justin received his Master’s Degree from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), where he focused on building software for variably structured improvisation in performance. He is the main developer behind AETHER, a new music software for improvised conduction as well as MANTIS (the Mutually Adaptive Neuro-Tonal Interface System) which is a biorhythmic musical instrument incorporating realtime analysis of and reaction to an individual’s heart-rate.
He has released music on the Moodgadget, Ghostly International, Ears & Eyes, and Articulated Works labels.
Justin writes & produces music under his own name as well as the pseudonym Beautiful Bells.
